The first thing to know is that Massachusetts requires that ALL new applicants for firearm licenses MUST complete a Commonwealth Approved course in Basic Firearm Safety. The MAGPRO course # LTC-0116 satisfies this requirement. The firearm licensing process is very different from city/county to city/county. Some towns include live-fire qualification as a component of the local police department's licensing process, while other towns do not. The MAGPRO LTC-016 includes live-fire practice. There are localities that will issue "All Lawful Purpose" [unrestricted] Class "A" licenses to Carry Concealed, while others primarily issue restricted licenses. The fee for a firearm license is currently $100.00 and the process can take between 4 - 6 weeks. Many towns require that you are a member of a Rifle and Pistol Range. All of this and, depending on the town, more requirements are in addition to completing a firearm license request application. It is critically important to ensure that the application packet you submit to your local police department is completed in a manner that gives you the best chance of being issued a license with no restrictions or the least possible restrictions. Visit www.magproinc.com and view the Basic Firearm Safety Training page for access to very helpful information about Class A & Class B License to Carry and Firearm Identification Card regulations and more. If you have applied for a firearm license and have been denied, I would appreciate hearing your story. Are you a person who enjoys firearm collection, target shooting or other shooting sports activities, but tend to exclude this topic when engaged in casual conversations that include discussing hobbies, sporting activities and general areas of interest? If so, what is your rationale?
